The enormous geographical diversity of the Peruvian territory is widely known, and travelling through it can also be an emotional experience. The exhibition «Territories» by Billy Hare brings together almost forty images of Peruvian landscapes of coast, mountains, and jungle; testimonies arising from the meeting marked by a particular moment where geology, the footprint of man, light and climatic conditions converge.

Artist Ricardo Wiesse points about the exhibition: “Far from urban convulsions, Hare favours the contemplation of raw nature. He explores the airs, textures and panoramas that are pure past, intact since the origin of the Andes. His works celebrate the light, the visual spectacle of a vast, multifaceted territory, unfolded sensitively, magically, like the infinite faces of time. Position the tripod, adjust, frame, focus, shutter: the operations are repeated quickly and precisely. The immovable hill and its witness – the looked at and the gaze – intertwine their opposing destinies: the stone that prolongs their inconceivable, almost eternal permanence, and human brevity.”

Billy Hare (Lima, 1946) is one of the most renowned photographers in the country. A disciple of Minor White and Aaron Siskind, between 1977 and 1978 he attended the master’s program at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) as a Fulbright scholar. In 1992 he was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. He founded Secuencia Fotogalería and the Photography Department of the Gaudí Institute, the Centro de la Fotografía and the photo-gallery El Ojo Ajeno. In the last decade, he has had solo exhibitions in Warsaw, Ankara, and Munich.  He has participated in recent group shows: Urban Impulses: Latin American Photography 1959-2017 (Photographers Gallery.
