In the exhibition “Around the corners of the neighbourhood” Joan Jiménez (Entes) presents large format paintings, engravings and a sculpture.

Jorge Villacorta, curator of the exhibition, says: ‘For some time now, Joan Jiménez has been searching for a way to capture the feeling of belonging to an urban setting that would be the enclave of a community with strong ties, experientially associated with a territory of streets with a name and a sign. That space is none other than the neighbourhood. Whoever is not from there and enters it, instantly recognises his foreignness, because the codes escape him completely, and he does not know the hours and days that mark the daily and rhythmic use of the streets. What the artist aspires to achieve is a visual glimpse of a community, through a group of paintings, several of which are individual portraits that fuse the register with the chronicle of an exalted everyday life. We view an imaginary neighbourhood, which is convincing as a reliable representation by the sharpness of its concise observations, to which he breathes artifice and splinters of anecdote by intensifying the colour’.

Joan Jiménez (Lima, 1982) is also known by the name of Entes, in his work as a graffiti artist. He has been involved in the streets since 1998 and has participated in festivals and exhibitions in nearly 60 cities around the world. He studied Fine Arts at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Corriente Alterna, Lima (2005-2011). Since then, he alternates his work with painting, through which he gives visibility to Afro-descendants and indigenous people. He lives in Lima and Miami.</div>

He has had solo exhibitions in Lima (ICPNA, Circuito del agua), Miami (Scope Festival), New York (Superchief Gallery) and Bogotá (MAC).  And, collectively, in Miami (Museum of Graffiti, Miami Art Society &amp; Superchief Gallery), New York (Poster House), Lima (Galería Luis Miró Quesada Garland), as well as in the fairs Arte Clandestina Miami (2024), Art Miami (2023), Scope Miami (2022, 2021), Scope New York (2021) and Art Lima (2019).
